Teacher Inquiries 19/10/16

Collaborative Teaching in ILE
Presenters:  Jude and Edie
Jude and Edie have come into collaborative teaching not really knowing where to start. They had to ask a lot of questions to get some sort of directive as to how to approach it all.  Lots of trial and error.
It's been an exciting journey.

Math Professional Learning - Perimeter Possibilities

Problem solving

  • relevant
  • scaffolding
  • purpose
  • there are many ways to solve a problem
Problem
Students need 5 leaves each day to feed 2 caterpillars. How many leaves would the students need each day to feed 12 caterpillars?

Anticipated strategies:

e.g.    12 caterpilars   =   2      2      2      2       2     2
                                       5 +    5 +   5+    5+    5+   5   =  30 leaves
